The choice of a specific type of geotextile depends on the purpose and function that this geosynthetic performs in its field of use:
Filtration and drainage
The geotextile in its structure prevents soil particles from moving, allowing free flow of liquid and gas. The work efficiency is strictly dependent on the pore size and surface weight of the whole material. Maintaining the proper structure of the geotextile (pore size) allows it to pass through the filter particles with a diameter smaller than O90. Larger particles are retained on the filter surface. As a result, water drainage can be carried out in any plane of the nonwoven fabric.
Isolation
Geotextile is an excellent separating material, and it owes to high water permeability and high mechanical properties. This function is used especially for stabilizing soils with low load capacity. Road construction in such areas can be particularly difficult, and thanks to the use of geotextiles it is definitely simpler and more effective. The products permanently prevent the mixing of different layers of the substrate, which makes it possible to reduce the thickness of load-bearing layers in the foundation structures and extend their durability. The result of inadequate separation may be a gradual mixing of construction materials with native soil, and thus considerable and costly repair of damage to the road structure.
If ALTEX AT geotextile is not used as a separation layer between the foundation and the native soil, the layers are mixed, which leads to faster degradation.
Protection and strengthening
Geotextile absorbs dynamic stresses and prevents individual layers of the substrate from mixing, which significantly extends the life of communication routes, while reducing the amount of aggregate needed in their construction. Geotextiles improve the mechanical parameters of the substrate and for this purpose they are laid below or between layers of the earth to absorb dynamic stresses arising as a result of using roads, airports or railways.
