Warta VII Valley – reconstruction of the right flood embankment commune Guard
The scope of work included the renovation of flood embankments on the Warta River from the administrative borders of Sieradz to the voivodship road running through Rossoszyca. When strengthening the embankment crown, soil stabilization technology was used with the use of geosynthetics in the form of geotextile and geocells. Geotextile fulfilling the function of separation and filtration allows for free flow of gases and water, while maintaining aggregate and preventing its leaching from the geocell shaft along the crown.
The use of the AT CELL geocell system allows the reduction of road foundation layers and the maintenance and stabilization of slopes and embankments. The set of tapes connected by ultrasonic welding of a specific height is a system resembling the structure of the so-called honeycomb, which after filling with aggregate and thickening improves the mechanical parameters of aggregate trapped inside the cells. The soil or aggregate filling the cells is blocked by the walls of the system, thanks to which they gain better compaction. In addition, the aggregate wedging process is observed, which has a positive effect on the internal friction angle of the backfill.
Properly compacted backfill together with the AT CELL geocell system prevents uneven settlement and reduces vertical forces. Thanks to this, the thickness of the structural layer of the foundation is appropriately modified. The use of the AT CELL geocell system allows to reduce the phenomenon of aggregate leaching, which has a significant impact on the stabilization and anti-erosion properties of the escarpment and embankments.
